| Located next to the world famous Colchester castle, Castle Methodist Church is built on a site which was originally occupied by the, 'great round meeting house'.
Built at the time that John Wesley was travelling round the country forming societies and preaching. He visited Colchester on a number of occasions and preached in the 'great round meeting house'. The pulpit used by him survives and is on display in the present building.
The present building was brought into use in 1998 when a site at Culver street which had been occupied in the meantime was taken over by developers. British Home Stores now occupies the Culver Street site.

The Church has a covenant of co-operation with St Botolph's Anglican Church and the evening service on the second Sunday is always held at St Botolphs (at 4.30 pm in winter months following a tea at 4.00 pm). On the fourth Sunday of each Month the evening service at 6.30 pm is held at Castle Methodist Church and members from St. Botolph's attend that service. These joint services are also often accompanied by members of St. Peters Anglican Church.
There are coffee mornings which operate between 10.00 am and midday on both Wednesdays and Saturdays. Anybody wanting to make contact, or just wanting refreshment is welcome to come to the church loungs (accessible from the car park) on these mornings. Some sort of charitable sale often accompanies the Saturday coffee morning.
